Wodonga Special Cattle Sale 19^th August 2010

Brian Unthank Rodwell, Paull & Scollard, Peter Ruaro & Bores Kindellan Schubert conducted their monthly Special Store cattle sale yesterday at Wodonga.

A very wide spread of rain fall over the previous week resulted in yet another outstanding sale.

 

The morning started off with a handy run of Cows & Calves, fetching $1280 for Angus cows & Lim Calves at foot not rejoined of Brad & Rosemary Mitchell, DA & M Hempel had 2 Red Angus Cows & Calves at foot reaching $1230.

 

Steers again sold very well, with the grown steers ranging from $1.85 - $2.00 per kilo, with Ladysmith feedlot being very strong on the day, We had 36 Shorthorn Steers A/c of Thomas B Cottrell of “Tarcoola”, Holbrook present 87 Steers aged 12-13 mths, topping at $744 for 36 head or $2.06 per kilo, the lighter end sold for $695 or $2.10 per kilo, with both lots going to a client of Rodwells Benalla. Hanna Pastoral Co., of Walwa sold 88 Angus Steers, reaching $728 for 30 head, Hanna's Black Baldys sold to a top of $730 or $2.02, Bayrhyll Pty Ltd of Tallangatta presented some top line steers Averaging $671, R & C West of Bonegilla had 15 Angus Steers making $600 or $2.23 per kilo.

In the Hereford lines of steers once again Frank & Jeanette McCormack of Tallangatta had a top pen of Steers making $770 or $2.08 per kilo, Moorak Partnership of Holbrook, had an outstanding line of Steers, Topping at $780, 24 head making $722 or $2.00 per kilo., Nevis & Robyn Hodgkin had 22 Steers that made $684 or $2.12 per kilo.

 

The Heifer line up again was of a high quality, Paul Mullavey of Spring Creek had 12 Angus Heifers fetching $640 or $1.92 per kilo., Moorak Partnership of Holbrook lined up again with this time an outstand line of heifers, with 16 of them making $655 or $2.07 per kilo, Ardonachie Holdings Pty Ltd of Macarthur presented 100 angus heifers with 53 of them making $540 and the Black baldys making $592 or $2.19 per kilo.   

 

The market would have been on a dearer trend then our previous month's sale.
